Journey On was a very pleasant experience. I have practiced guided meditation before and I think that it made it very easy for me to follow along. When the guide asked that we focus on our arms and hands, the feeling of warmth and heaviness was instantaneous. Going through the meditation, I felt my tense muscles relax, especially the ones in my shoulders. Once it was over, I continued to feel relaxed and energized for quite a while.
What I learned from this exercise was the physiological reaction of our energetic intentions. I have done this same meditation (not verbatum) before, but instead of focusing on the "blood flow" of an area, it was the relaxation of the muscles that we envisioned and experienced. I was very interested in this difference, because, in the end, they go together. You focus your energy on a part of your body and the physiological reaction is the change in blood flow."
Hi Brittany,
ReplyDeleteI loved how this guided relaxation focused on the upper body as well. My neck and shoulders are always tense, so I enjoyed how I was able to unblock the blood flow and increase energy flow back to these areas.
Your daughter is beautiful. :-)

ReplyDeleteThat is great that you have done guided meditation before. I have only done a small amount of meditation in yoga class or by a couple CD's that my mom had given me. I felt a sense of accomplishment that I was able to feel the warmth in my hands. I like your last sentence about focusing your energy on a part of your body and a physiological change occurs. So true. Hopefully, we will be able to witness the mind-body connection better through physiological changes.
I have done a guided meditation in my Stress Management class, called the rainbow meditation...it was really relaxing because you would picture certain colors on an area of the body, and it took my mind off of things for a while. I never thought these kinds of meditations really work, but they do! I felt my hands get very heavy with this meditation, but I did get a little distracted.
